Remarks of the Spokesperson of the Chinese Consulate General in Vancouver on A Canadian Media’s Report of “Interference” by China in Canadian Federal Elections
2023-02-17 14:03

Today, a Canadian media repeated the so called "China's interference in Canadian federal elections", smearing and discrediting China. The Consulate General express strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to it.

The Chinese side has made it clear on many occasions that China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, and has never interfered in any Canadian election or internal affairs in any way. The relevant Canadian media’s practice of spreading false information about the Consulate General and consular officials, and attacking China's domestic and foreign policies, with its ulterior motives and malicious intentions, will damage the friendship and interests of the peoples of China and Canada, furthermore, seriously disrupt the Consulate’s performance of consular functions in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations and the bilateral consular agreement between China and Canada.

We urge the relevant media to abide by professional ethics, immediately stop smearing and attacking China and the Consulate General, and do more good deeds that are conducive to mutual understanding and friendly exchanges between the governments and peoples of China and Canada.
